My Personal Care Promise to You
When I started this line, I put a lot of time and energy into researching what makes skincare products good—or bad.
We all know about Organic Certification. And Lynn’s Lavender fields were Certified Organic by California Department of Food and Agriculture. But—not everyone can go to the time and money involved to get certified. And, not everyone wants to. What’s more important to me is that plants are grown in a sustainable plan. Essentially that means without unnecessary pesticides, herbicides and what I call earthicides. We all want to protect our earth and treat her with the care she deserves—sort of like the way we want to take care of ourselves. It includes growing our soil (yes, you can actually grow and improve your soil over time) and cherishing our water supplies.
And in our body care products we take the same approach.
We know that you may be concerned about what goes into your personal care products, and what doesn't. How is it made? Does it test on animals? (never!) That's why we include such important information about each personal care product in its description. All of our products are cruelty free, gluten free paraben free, sulfate free, and vegan. Plus other attributes shown for each product. We want you to enjoy our products with the confidence that comes from superb ingredients, artfully compounded.
Right now there’s a lot of debate about the use of Paraben as a preservative. Actually, the panel is still out on this one. But just in case, we have chosen to not use Paraben as a preservative in our products whenever possible. Instead we use ingredients that give us the same result without the concerns.
The real issue with preservatives is a safety one. While our products are made in a clean lab environment, we know that when you get them home you’ll probably keep them in your bathroom, on your counters, and wherever else you keep your beauty stash. Now, this is not a comment on your housekeeping, but… No matter how you try, your home is not a sterile lab environment. Your shower and bathroom have moisture, your home airborne particles, and so it goes. We don’t want you to open one of your favorite products from Lynn’s Lavender and discover it’s also a favorite of some airborne particle or mold or whatever else has decided to land there. So, we put in preservatives to keep you safe from invasion. We’ll let those molds, etc. set up colonies elsewhere. (at your neighbors ? )
And about that Organic Certification. This is a real conundrum. We want to bring you the finest, cleanest possible products. We don’t spray pesticides on ourselves—and don’t recommend you do. However, there are some limitations involved in making purely organic certified body care products with a good shelf life. We can bring you 89% Organic, 92% Organic, 68% Organic and so on and so forth. But some ingredients can't be certified organic because of the way the organic certification process works. So we can't call our products 100% Certified Organic. Just the pertinent ingredients.
Bottom line: we decided to make our products as pure and healthy as possible and forgo all the Organic Hoopla. We clearly list the ingredients in our products on our individual product information page, explain what that ingredient is used for, and let you judge for yourself. (You don’t get that off the shelf at the big box stores, do you.)
